  1. Hi bro,

Showing blog posts in excerpts with read more links ensures optimum use of website homepage. I don’t know for others, but for me it shows some level of professionalism. I have this feature enabled in my blog too.

    Have a nice day!

    1. Hey Sherab,

There are many people who use the custom excerpt. If you add the read more button then WordPress will automatically pickup the words. If you leave it as it is then the structure of the content would alter.

Thanks for taking time to share your thoughts.

      Have a wonderful day.

  2. Hello Ravi,

Yes, many theme (especially the free ones) don’t come with post excerpt. Your post will definitely help bloggers who want to add excerpt to their blog.

I am using the Genesis theme so it comes with it, and no, i don’t do it manually.

Aside the way you mentioned above, WordPress do have an excerpt setting in your WordPress dashboard that can force any blog that don’t it inbuilt to show an excerpt of your post.

Your tutorial is easy to understand… do have a great week ahead…

    1. Hey Babanature,

Most of the newbies don’t look upon these themes when they choose the theme for their blog. If the theme is enabled with the excerpt showing feature then we don’t need to add it manually.

Nowadays, developers are improving the themes for providing the better user experience.

      Thanks for stopping by.

      Enjoy the day.

  3. Great post Ravi,

And like BabaNature said, this will certainly help a lot of people who are using one of these free themes.

But, I honestly don’t really understand why anyone would go for a free theme today when there a lot of insanely and good premium WordPress themes out there on the internet, even though a lot of people obviously will not be able to afford premium themes, but anyone who can not afford $19 to get a theme, I doubt if he can really succeed at blogging.

Moreover, you can always find a friend who can share his own premium theme with you if you’re so broke that you can’t afford one. It’s all about building relationships with other bloggers.

That being said, I’m very sure this post will be very helpful to a lot of people, especially those new bloggers.

    Thanks for sharing man.
